🧙‍♂️ The Magic of Middle-earth at Banbury Museum. A Must-See for Tolkien Fans!

As a lifelong fan of The Lord of the Rings books, Peter Jackson’s films, and The Rings of Power on Prime, I went into The Magic of Middle-earth exhibition at Banbury Museum & Gallery with high hopes, and I wasn’t disappointed!

From the moment you step into the space, you’re greeted with the spirit of Tolkien’s richly imagined world. The show isn’t just a static display — it feels like a journey through Middle-earth itself. Whether you’ve read the books countless times or come just for the films, there’s something here to captivate every kind of fan.

🎨 Stunning Art That Brings Middle-earth to Life

One of the standout features is the original fantasy artwork on display. Several magnificent paintings, including works inspired by The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, are presented in beautifully crafted frames that make them feel like treasure taken right from the halls of Rivendell or the libraries of Minas Tirith.

These pieces go beyond simple illustrations — they capture the heart and depth of Tolkien’s world, from sweeping landscapes to intimate character moments. Even the most dedicated fan will find new details to pore over.

🧱 Activities & Interactive Fun

This exhibition isn’t just for gazing — it’s for playing! There are hands-on games and interactive elements that cleverly echo the adventures in Middle-earth, making it delightful not just for adults like me but for whole families too.

Race across a giant Middle-earth game board, test your Tolkien lore with fun quizzes, or simply take time to admire the whimsical themed Lego displays — there’s a playful magic here that complements the deeper artistic side.

🗺️ Great for All Ages and All Levels of Fandom

Whether you’re a seasoned reader of Tolkien’s appendices and lore or someone who fell in love with the stories through The Rings of Power, this exhibition has plenty to offer. It celebrates Tolkien’s lasting cultural impact and reminds you why these stories continue to enchant audiences around the world.

Plus, with affordable entry and family-friendly pricing, this is the kind of immersive, imaginative experience that shouldn’t be missed by any fan of fantasy and storytelling.

📍 The Magic of Middle-earth is on until 28 June 2026 at Banbury Museum & Gallery, and if you love Tolkien’s world as much as I do, put this exhibition high on your list!
