My Kenji Haul: Tiny Joys in a Heavy Moment

Sunday, 12 July 2026

I’ve been grieving these past weeks. Losing Pumpsey has left a quiet ache in the house, in my routines, in the way I move through the day. Grief is strange; it doesn’t ask permission, it just arrives and settles in. So this week, I took myself to Kenji Not for retail therapy in the cliché sense, but for a small moment of colour and comfort. A place where tiny objects can briefly lift the weight on your chest.

Kenji Black Cat Blind Box

I started with the black cat blind box. There’s something reassuring about the ritual of opening a blind box, the tiny suspense, the reveal. The figure I got has a mischievous little face, and it already sits on my shelf like it has seniority. Black cat blind box.

Playful Pig Blind Box

The playful pig blind box was pure whimsy. The figure inside has that round, joyful look that makes you smile even when you weren’t planning to. Playful pig blind box

Sumotosocks Heart Print

The Sumotosocks were a softness I needed. The red heart print pair is cheerful without being loud, and they feel like a small kindness to yourself on a difficult morning. Sumotosocks

Tomani Card Holder

The Tomani card holder was the practical part of the haul. Clean lines, sturdy feel, and that simple Kenji charm that makes everyday objects feel a little more intentional. Tomani card holder.

The Black Tuxedo Cat That Turns Into a Dog

This is the piece that mattered most. A plush keychain that flips from a black tuxedo cat into a little dog. I bought it because it reminded me of Pumpsey. The face, the softness, the gentle expression. Three weeks on, I’m still struggling with the reality of his absence, and bringing home something that echoes him felt grounding. It’s on my bag now, and every time I see it, it’s a quiet moment of connection. Tuxedo cat plush.

Playful Pens

I picked up playful pens because I never have enough pens ( she said ) , and Kenji’s stationery always feels like a tiny celebration of everyday life. They write smoothly and look cheerful on my desk including work desk although we are not supposed to decorate our desk but bringing silly cute pens at work its my rebellious side. Playful pens

Kenji Canvas Tote Bag

And finally, the canvas tote bag it was on sale, it had that japanses writing ( it won me stright away) so it had to come back home of course. Simple, sturdy, and perfect for carrying all the little treasures I’d gathered. It’s already become my everyday tote. Kenji canvas tote

A Small Haul, A Needed Breath

This trip wasn’t just about cute things. It was a way to step outside my grief for an hour, to let my heart rest in something gentle. Pumpsey is still everywhere in my thoughts, and I’m still finding my footing without him. But this little haul brought a bit of light into a heavy week, and that’s worth writing about.
